Storage devices allow you to store information and files from your computer and makes it easier to transfer the files from on computer to another one as well as making copies of files to keep records.
USB
USB flash drives are portable memory devices that allow you to store different files such as music files, picture files, Microsoft word documents, power points, Microsoft excel documents and more. USB pens come in different sizes from megabytes to gigabytes allowing more information to be stored on the pen.
External Hard Drive
External hard drives allow you to connect to your computer via USB connection to back up all files from your computer and store them on the hard drive which allows you to keep an extra copy that you can store away in a save place in case something happens your computer so that you will still have copies of everything.
CD/DVD’s
CD’s or DVD’s allow you to burn files from the computer onto the disk to store the information and then it can be transferred to other computers and download the files to other computers when needed. Although CD’s and DVD disks can be easily broken and information kept on the disks can be damaged therefore the disks need to be kept in a case for keep keeping.
Floppy Disk
Floppy disk has become obsolete in recent years with the introduction of flash drives becoming ever more popular as they have more memory space and are less likely to break. Although when first introduced floppy disks were popular, they had small, limited memory capability and were easily broken and most computers now do not have floppy disk drives to use them as USB drives are more useful.
Cache Memory
Cache (pronounced cash) is either part of the main memory or a stand alone memory device. Cache memory is a high speed memory device and stores the most used data on the computer to allow you to access the most used data and programs quickly.
RAM Memory
Random Access Memory or RAM memory is a memory that allows you to access data randomly. RAM is the most popular type of memory used in computer devices today, as it gives fast access to information stored on the memory.
